The award has been given to physicians for many years and 2009 was the first year that the recognition was given to dentists. Dr. George H. Kyd DDS, graduated from the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1976. He is a member of the American Dental Association and its local components, the American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration. In 1984 Dr. Kyd was the first Periodontist in St. Louis to be trained in the Branemark Implant system. He placed the first Branemark Implants in a patient in St. Louis in 1985.
Dr. Thomas V. Schaberg DDS, MS, was also an Associate Professor of Periodontics at the Washington University School of Dental Medicine. He joined Dr. Kyd in the practice of Periodontics in 1984. Dr. Schaberg graduated from UMKC in 1979 and completed his residency at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1984. He also is a member of the ADA and its local components, as well as the American Academy of Periodontology.
